Phil Baroni's five year hiatus from the UFC ended this past November with a unanimous decision loss to Amir Sadollah at UFC 106. Apparently, Baroni (13-12) has verbally agreed to fight on the UFC 118 card at the TD Garden in Boston. An opponent has yet to be determined.
"The New York Badass" holds notable Octagon wins over Curtis Stout and Dave Menne. After that, Baroni suffered a four-fight losing streak against Matt Lindland, Evan Tanner (twice) and Pete Sell.
The streak led to his subsequent release from the promotion in February of 2005. Since then, Baroni has competed for multiple organizations such as PRIDE, Strikeforce and EliteXC.
Baroni has recently been training at American Kickboxing Academy and over the past couple of years has rededicated himself to better nutrition and conditioning. He has stated his desire recently to step back up in weight to compete in the middleweight division.
