Phil Baroni vs. Amir Sadollah added to UFC 106
by Jacob Camargo on September 02, 2009

Fresh off his departure from Strikeforce, Phil Baroni will return to the UFC to take on TUF 7 winner Amir Sadollah at UFC 106 in November. The news of the bout was first reported by Inside Fights and has since been confirmed by Fiveknuckles.com from sources close to the event.

The UFC signed Baroni just days after he was released from Strikeforce last month. Baroni hasn't fought in the organization since being defeated by Pete Sell at UFC 51 in February 2005. The loss was his fourth straight with the UFC and the promotion parted ways with him shortly thereafter. Overall, he sports a 3-5 record with the UFC, with wins over Dave Menne and Amar Suloev.

Baroni (13-11) most recently suffered a loss to Joe Riggs at Strikeforce: "Lawler vs. Shields" on June 6. Prior to the loss, he had won three straight since dropping to down to the welterweight division. During his nine-year career, Baroni has fought for other notable promotions, such as; PRIDE, ICON Sport, EliteXC, Cage Rage and Palace Fighting Championships. He has finished 11 of his 13 career wins and he holds other notable wins over the likes of Olaf Alfonso, Ikuhisa Minowa and Ryo Chonan.

Sadollah (1-1) suffered the first loss of his young career at last month's UFC 101 against WEC veteran Johny Hendricks. Prior to the loss, he won the Ultimate Fighter season 7 tournament by defeating CB Dollaway at TUF 7 finale last June in what was his official MMA debut.

UFC 106 will take place on November 21 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be headlined by a UFC heavyweight championship bout between current champion Brock Lesnar and challenger Shane Carwin, as well as the return of Tito Ortiz to the UFC as he takes on UFC Hall of famer, Mark Coleman.
