UFC 102 is officially in the books and it turned out be a fantastic first outing for the promotion in Portland, Oregon. Here are some interesting tidbits that came out of the post-fight press conference for the event:
-UFC 102 drew an estimated 16,088 spectators to the Rose Garden Arena in Portland for a $1.92 million gate, which is believed to be the fifth-largest gate in Oregon combat-sports history, according to UFC president Dana White.
-The UFC handed out $240,000 in bonus money for the event. Headliners Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Randy Couture as well as Nate Marquardt and Jake Rosholt each earned $60,000 "Fight Night" bonuses for their outstanding performance at UFC 102.
Nogueira and Couture earned "Fight of the Night" honors for their exciting and thrilling headlining bout, which saw Nogueira walk away with the victory. Marquardt took home "Knockout of the Night" for his spectacular 21- second Knockout win over submission wizard Demian Maia. Todd Duffee's record 7 second knockout win over Tim Hague was a close second. Rosholt earned "Submission of the Night" for his third round submission (arm-triangle choke) win over Chris Leben.
-Dana White said he didn't know if Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Nate Marquardt will get title shots in their respective divisions following their wins.
- Randy Couture has signed a new six-fight with the UFC, with the length of the deal being for 28 months. Couture said he would end his career in the UFC. The first fight on the new deal was the UFC 102 bout against Nogueira. Couture's new deal is reported to be valued at the same amount the UFC offered Fedor Emelianenko.
-The next time the UFC heads to the Pacific Northwest region, they will likely visit Seattle next but they also plan on staging another event in Portland.
