Prelims set for UFC 115 on Spike TV; Griffin vs. Dunham, Danzig vs. Wiman.
by Jeff Jones on May 11, 2010

Two fights in the lightweight division will air on Spike TV leading up to the UFC 115 main card on pay-per-view, Tyson Griffin vs. Evan Dunham, and Mac Danzig vs. Matt Wiman. UFC 115 will take place at GM Place in Vancouver, British Columbia on June 12.

Griffin (14-2) has had a very successful run in the UFC thus far, scoring notable octagon victories over veterans Clay Guida, Gleison Tibau and Rafael Dos Anjos. His two losses have come against former lightweight champion Sean Sherk, and current champion Frank Edgar. Griffin has also been the recipient of 6 "fight of the night" awards since joining the promotion.

Dunham (10-0) has looked impressive in his undefeated reign, with wins over Per Eklund, Marcus Aurelio and an armbar submission over Efrain Escudero earning him a "submission of the night" bonus back in January.

Mac Danzig (19-7) has had a roller-coaster ride since winning "The Ultimate Fighter 6" show. After winning his first two fights in the organization, Danzig hit a rough patch and dropped his next three in a row. With his career in the UFC in jeopardy, Danzig bounced back nicely with a much needed  unanimous decision victory over Justin Buchholz in February.

TUF 5 alum Matt Wiman (11-5) is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over Shane Nelson back in December after experiencing consecutive decision losses at the hands of Jim Miller and Sam Stout. This will be the second fight for Wiman in Canada.

This will be the first pay-per-view event in Vancouver. According to Dana White's twitter account last month, tickets sold out in just thirty minutes. It is a new UFC record for fastest ticket sales, beating out the old record set by UFC 83 held in Montreal.

 |  (5) Comments Legend of Lee Murray: Jeff, keep up the good work, I am also glad to see Spike is taking over again with the Prelims...While it is nice to see ESPN taking notice of MMA and even going as far as to have a pre-fight show to expose MMA even further...I want to see the actual fights! I thought ESPN was showing the prelim fights... not an hour or so of ESPN's "MMA Analysts" along side Sugar and KenFlo talking about previous fights and oversaturating the show with "Tale of the Tapes"...fan's want to see fist to face bottom line! Castle: Nice! The Griffin/Dunham fight should be great. The other fight, meh. Atleast its free The Hitman: Good prelims. Storm: Danzig /Wiman should be a good brawl too. i expect Griffin to finish Dunham. Wandering_Minstrel: Sweet-lookin' prelims.
