Though not yet official, former UFC light heavyweight champion, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will likely square off against Thiago Silva at UFC 130 on May 28 according to various sources.
Yesterday, Jackson assured fans via twitter that he had not given up on his quest to regain his UFC light heavyweight title and that he would be training hard in anticipation of the upcoming fight.
"Thanks 2 all my fans 4 the support on my next fight,u have my word that I will train my ass off,I'm still on the road 2 get my belt back," Jackson tweeted.
Jackson (31-8) is coming off of a controversial decision win over Lyoto Machida at UFC 123 in November. He's 6-2 since joining the organization back in 2008 with big wins over Chuck Liddell, Dan Henderson, Wanderlei Silva, Keith Jardine, and the aforementioned Machida.
Despite a 2-2 mark in his last four outings, Silva (15-2) is on the rise. After suffering the first loss of his career to Lyoto Machida via first-round knockout, Silva went on to serve up a first-round KO of his own against tough veteran Keith Jardine. He followed that up with a valiant performance in a decision loss against former champion Rashad Evans before destroying Brandon Vera in a lopsided affair at UFC 125.
UFC 130 is also rumored to be featuring the following fights:
Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard
Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson
Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story
Travis Browne vs. Stefan Struve
