Quinton "Rampage" Jackson to face Thiago Silva at UFC 130, promises to train hard
by Jason Perkins on January 09, 2011

Though not yet official, former UFC light heavyweight champion, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will likely square off against Thiago Silva at UFC 130 on May 28 according to various sources.

Yesterday, Jackson assured fans via twitter that he had not given up on his quest to regain his UFC light heavyweight title and that he would be training hard in anticipation of the upcoming fight.

"Thanks 2 all my fans 4 the support on my next fight,u have my word that I will train my ass off,I'm still on the road 2 get my belt back," Jackson tweeted.

Jackson (31-8) is coming off of a controversial decision win over Lyoto Machida at UFC 123 in November. He's 6-2 since joining the organization back in 2008 with big wins over Chuck Liddell, Dan Henderson, Wanderlei Silva, Keith Jardine, and the aforementioned Machida.

Despite a 2-2 mark in his last four outings, Silva (15-2) is on the rise. After suffering the first loss of his career to Lyoto Machida via first-round knockout, Silva went on to serve up a first-round KO of his own against tough veteran Keith Jardine. He followed that up with a valiant performance in a decision loss against former champion Rashad Evans before destroying Brandon Vera in a lopsided affair at UFC 125.

UFC 130 is also rumored to be featuring the following fights:

Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard
Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson
Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story
Travis Browne vs. Stefan Struve

 |  (10) Comments GO HARD: i think the fact that he looked good against machida... has given page the confidence he needed to take fighting serious again... i think he realizes he CAN be champ again. even tho he wont. q; ) flyangler: I got Page in this fight. He is going to put Thiago to sleep. JujitsWho: I love this match-up!!!! Both have great hands. Page has the edge in overall boxing and chin. Thiago has some reach on him though which could be a factor. Both have KO power too Man.....I think Rampage takes it if he gets inside on Silva. The Hitman: Wow, what a great fight. Two guys with crazy power. I say advantage Page because of his chin and wrestling (if he needs it). But this fight should be crazy. Awesome matchup. Marker28: I got to give this one to Silva; he is smart enough to take it to the ground and Page doesn't get off of his back well at all. I hope I'm wrong. nygiant: Silva will look to take this to the ground imo. Tough fight to call. Mickey knox: I like Thiago, but this fight's all page, IF he comes in serious and well trained. Silva didn't look like a destroyer of worlds in the stand up, and while his ground game looked damn good, it might have had something to do with the fact that Vera looked frozen with fear the whole time he was on his back. That's just not how Page is gonna roll. Unless Thiago becomes the first man to find Page's one punch button, Page wins this. IwishIwasMMA: honestly, if Page shows up to fight again, this fight is not worth watching. If Page shows up like he did against Rashad, I may give this to Thiago. Also, one thing I would like to note.. I do not believe Pages chin is where it was. This may be due to age or being struck a lot. This idea came from when Machida hurt him with a punch. Granted, Machida hits like a ton of fucking bricks, it is still hard to call.
