Rafael Assuncao vs. Yves Jabouin moved to the televised WEC 43 main card
by Jacob Camargo on August 19, 2009

The featherweight bout between top-ten ranked Rafael Assuncao and promotional newcomer Yves Jabouin will fill the vacated slot on the televised WEC 43 main card.

Apparently, a slot was vacated on the WEC 43's main card due to an undisclosed injury Alex Karalexis suffered, causing the promotion to scrap his lightweight bout against Anthony Pettis.

Assuncao has won his last five bouts, which includes a victory in his WEC debut against Jameel Massouh at WEC 40 in April. He hasn't lost since being handed his first career loss by longtime MMA veteran Jeff Curran at XFO 13: "Operation Beatdown" in November of 2006. Assuncao sports a near perfect MMA record of 13-1, with 10 wins coming by way of stoppage and he holds big wins over Jorge Masvidal and Joe Lauzon.

Jabouin is riding a four-fight win streak, with his most recent win coming against J.T. Wells at XMMA 6: "House of Pain" last November. The longtime Canadian fight circuit veteran has been competing professionally for over 8 years now. 11 of his 14 career wins have came via TKO or KO and he holds a notable win over Thierry Quenneville.

WEC 43 takes place on September 2 from the Covelli Centre in Yougstown, Ohio and the main card will be telecast live on VERSUS. The event is headlined by a WEC interim lightweight title bout between Donald Cerrone and Ben Henderson.
