It didn't take long for Dan Henderson to earn his first title shot in Strikeforce.
Despite going just 1-1 since signing with the promotion, Henderson (26-8) will get a chance to unseat Rafael Cavalcante (10-2) as Strikeforce's light heavyweight champion on March 5.
Henderson dropped his first fight in Strikeforce, a unanimous decision loss to then-middleweight champion Jake Shields. Henderson rebounded from that defeat with a knockout win over Renato "Babalu" Sobral this past December. The victory was enough to earn the veteran a title shot.
Cavalcante has won three straight fights in Strikeforce and six of seven overall. The three-fight win streak comes after Cavalcante lost his promotional debut to Mike Kyle back in 2009. He's coming off an impressive TKO win over Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal to win the light heavyweight title. This will be Cavalcante's first title defense.
"Strikeforce: Columbus" will take place at Nationwide Arena in Columbus and it marks Strikeforce's debut in Ohio.
