The UFC continues to trim its roster at a rapid rate, as heavyweight Mostapha Al Turk as well as lightweights Rafaello Oliveira and Matt Veach are the latest victims of the promotion's recent wave of roster cuts.
News of Veach and Al Turk's UFC releases was first being reported by MMAjunkie.com and Oliveira's trainer and manager Mike Constantino confirmed the fighter's UFC release to Fiveknuckles.com on Thursday.
Oliveira (10-3) most recently suffered an unanimous decision loss to Andre Winner at UFC Fight Night 21 on March 31. He previously defeated John Gunderson in his sophomore fight with the promotion at UFC 108 in January. Oliveira leaves the UFC with a 1-2 mark with the promotion, suffering a loss in his UFC debut to Nik Lentz at September's UFC 103 event.
Veach (11-2) opened his UFC career in exciting fashion by scoring a first round TKO win over Matt Grice in his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 17 in February 2009. The The H.I.T. Squad fighter exits the UFC suffering back-to-back defeats to Frankie Edgar at TUF 10 Finale in December and most recently losing to Paul Kelly at UFC 112 last weekend.
Al Turk (6-6) failed to taste victory in three fights with the UFC. He most recently lost to Jon Madsen at UFC 112 on April 10. His previous UFC losses came against Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic at UFC 99 last June and in his octagon debut against Cheick Kongo at UFC 92.
