Randy Couture toughest man on "Expendables" set, says Sylvester Stallone

The hit summer action movie, "The Expendables," may be filled with some of the most celebrated action stars, but director/producer/actor Sylvester Stallone said that UFC fighter Randy Couture is the toughest guy of them all.

With fellow actors like Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Steve Austin, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, it might be difficult to land on the top of the pack, but for Couture, his co-star gave him all the praise.

"A fight between Randy Couture and anyone would last as long as it takes him to get across the ring," Stallone told Maxim (August issue). "When he grabs and throws you, it's the real deal. Violence to him is like you having juice in the morning."

But he wasn't done there. On a recent trip to "Late Show with David Letterman," Stallone continued the accolades, saying that stuntmen were asking him to not let Couture touch them anymore because he was using his MMA-formed strength to the best of his abilities. Even Steve Austin was worried that Couture would take him out.

"If you put all these tough guys... in a room together and let's see who comes out. If you walked in 10 minutes later, you'd see Randy Couture sitting on top of us having a chocolate fudge sundae."

"The Expendables" opens in theaters nationwide on August 13.

Rob: I want to see Jet Li vs Randy Couture. Wandering_Minstrel: Vinnie Jones isn't in the movie... perhaps thats why Couture is the toughest sunuvabitch. :D mike5k: To us this statement from Stallone falls into the category of, "no shit, Sherlock" but if you look at it from the perspective of mainstream movie fans this was a super cool move by sly. While Couture is obviously the toughest dude in the movie, he's also probably the least-known in a cast full of big to huge actors. This was a way for Stallone to give Randy some props to people who might have been saying, "who the hell is this guy?" and I think it's great.
