With Rani Yahya forced out of his bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 131, newcomer Jason Young has agreed to step and face Poirier. The UFC announced the change earlier today via Twitter.
UFC 131 is slated for June 2 in Vancouver, Canada.
Jason Young (8-3) will make his promotional debut when he steps in the cage with Poirier. The British fighter has reeled off four victories in his past five bouts, including two in a row. His lone defeat during that time came to current UFC fighter Paul Sass. It was Sass' last fight outside of the UFC.
Dustin Poirier looks to continue his hot streak after upsetting Josh Grispi at UFC 125. Grispi was scheduled to take on featherweight champion Jose Aldo at the event, but an injury to the champion forced him off of the card. Grispi decided to stay active and was matched up with Poirier. Poirier dominated the fight, dropping Grispi multiple times and shrugging off every submission attempt from Grispi.
UFC 131 is headlined by a heavyweight showdown between Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos. The winner will get the first crack at Cain Velasquez's heavyweight belt.
