"I think that him coming out and saying stuff like that was a bit premature. He's jumping the gun a little bit. Rampage is a very emotional fighter, a very emotional person, and he just let his emotions take over his rational thinking. I think that him and Dana White just probably need to talk it out, and get past it. I think it's just a breakdown in communication.
I'd be disappointed not to fight him. It would be a good fight, a fun fight, but mostly because he talked trash. He got me really angry, and I want to fight him just because of that alone. It's a fight that people want to see. You get your mind wrapped up, and you get your mind so psyched up about fighting a fighter, and then it doesn't happen, it's disappointing.
That's why I hate making a fight personal. At the end of the day, we're professional athletes, and we get paid to do a job. But when you get to fight someone you really want to fight, that's like a bonus. You'd almost do it for free." -Rashad Evans
Rashad Evans recently talked to Yahoo Sports about the consequences of Quinton ‘Rampage' Jackson leaving the UFC for a film career. He said that he would "have loved to punch [Jackson] in the face for free."
The pair are known for their bad blood towards each other. As a culmination of The Ultimate Fighter 10, Jackson and Evans were supposed to fight each other at UFC 107. In early Sept., the bout was called off due to Jackson landing a role in "The A-Team." The fight was very much anticipated by fans and the UFC management due to the hated between the two.
According to Evans, he and Jackson fought outside of the confines of The Ultimate Fighter set. At a club in Las Vegas, the two fighters got into a heated discussion where Jackson pushed Evans, and Evans got ejected from the club. He was later let back in.
The feud between Jackson and Evans began earlier this year at UFC 96 when Keith Jardine, Evans' teammate and close friend, lost a unanimous decision to Jackson. When Evans was brought into the Octagon and named as a potential opponent for Jackson, the two fighters started arguing with each other.
They currently appear as opposing coaches on the 10th season of The Ultimate Fighter, which airs on Spike TV, Wednesday nights at 10 p.m.
