Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans recently acknowledged to MMAFanHouse that he was offered the UFC 105 headlining bout against Randy Couture. Evans feels that the bout did not make sense for him and he would be taking a step backwards by accepting the bout so he decided to turn it down.

UFC light-heavyweight contender Brandon Vera saw an opportunity and seized it as he accepted the main event bout against Couture at UFC 105 on Nov. 14 in Manchester, England.

The UFC is starting to offer Evans opponents since Quinton Jackson made him opponent-less. Jackson and Evans were slated to meet at UFC 107 on Dec. 12, however, the bout was pushed back to a later date after Jackson landed the movie role of B.A. Baracus in the new "A Team" remake. The Evans vs. Jackson bout was then shelved indefinitely after "Rampage" suddenly decided to retire earlier this week.

If the match-making were up to Evans, he would already have an opponent, as he has Thiago Silva in his sights. Evans would like to get revenge on Silva after the American Top Team fighter defeated his Team Jackson training partner, Keith Jardine, at last month's UFC 102. Whoever Rashad Evans' next opponent is, he would like to get back in the win column after he was handed his first career loss against current UFC light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida at UFC 98 in May.
