Rashad Evans vs. Rampage moved to UFC 113 in May
by Natalia Baage on January 03, 2010

Last night at UFC 108, Rashad Evans won a unanimous decision win over Thiago Silva. Next up for him is his nemesis: Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.

As reported yesterday, UFC President Dana White said that the fight would "probably" happen in March. However, he has since stated that the organization is leaning towards UFC 113 in Montreal, Canada, which would take place on the first day of the month.

"We're thinking maybe, probably May," White said. "That's going to be a sick card up there."

With the ever-lasting feud between Evans and Rampage, and the very turbulent ties between White and Rampage, White is still upset that the two TUF 10 coaches did not fight at UFC 107, where their fight was originally scheduled to take place.

"The fight should have happened two weeks ago," said White. "But I'm over [the trash-talking]. I'm past it. I think Rashad is too. Now's the time to do that fight as soon as he's done with his movie."

When Rampage retired from MMA in order to pursue a film career, some fans speculated that he was afraid to fight Evans after their stint as opposing coaches on TUF 10.

"Getting to fight him would be a good opportunity to say the least," Evans said. "Getting the chance to get back in there and get on the winning track was very important tonight. Being off for so long and having so many distractions and working through so many things mentally, it was a little tougher than I thought it would be."

Even with Evans' win over Silva at last night's UFC 108, he is not yet in line for the light-heavyweight belt, currently held by Lyoto Machida. Machida was the man who took the belt from Evans when they fought in May 2009. Evans was heartbroken after the loss and had stated that he just did not think that he could get knocked out like that. This has pushed him more than ever to work as hard as he can to re-capture the light-heavyweight belt.

"It's always great to fight for a belt," Evans said. "But I think I need one more fight to integrate everything I've been working on so that when I do get a title shot, no one will beat me."
