Remaining Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix bouts off of April 9th card
by Tim Groves on February 21, 2011

Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum and Brett Rogers vs. Josh Barnett are expected to be pushed back from their originally planned date of April 9th, according to Sherdog.com.

A Strikeforce event is still planned for the weekend but will now take place in California, as opposed to Japan, like Scott Coker had originally hinted.

The event will now most likely be headlined by a lightweight title bout between Gilbert Melendez and Tatsuya Kawajiri. Nick Diaz is being pushed for the other leading slot on the card. Rumors are that Strikeforce is looking for either Paul Daley or Tyron Woodley to meet the Cesar Gracie product.

Cesar Gracie said that the short notice fight should be no problem for Diaz.

“It is a little bit of a short notice but you know how Nick is,” said Gracie. “I don’t think he will have a problem being ready to go by then.”

Sergei Kharitonov and Antonio Silva have already punched their tickets into the semifinals of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix. It seems that they will now have to wait a little bit longer to find out who there opponents will be.

There is currently no new date set for the two other quarterfinal bouts.

Then T-Wood can get the belt, defend it once in the process of holding to his contract, then abandon the belt to come to the UFC.:D flyangler: More time for a training injury to force someone out and get Fedor on the card.
