Rich Franklin To Fight At UFC 88
by Paulo Silva on June 30, 2008

A source close to the UFC has informed Five Knuckles.com that Rich Franklin will take part in UFC 88. No opponent has been named but sources close to the situation tell Five Knuckles.com that Franklin will definitely be fighting in Atlanta.

Franklin (23-3) last fought at UFC 83, scoring a decisive TKO against veteran Travis Lutter. The talk since then has circled around Franklin possibly moving back to light heavyweight. The weight at which he fought the first have of his career, losing only to Lyoto Machida.

"Rich has to make a decision," manager Monte Cox recently told MMAWeekly Radio. "We've certainly considered going to 205 and seeing how he does up there. He's fought almost everybody in the 185-pound division. There are some guys that he could fight, but if he beats them it knocks them out of title contention. And nobody is looking to see Rich and Anderson Silva 3 right now, including me."

No opponent has been named for Franklin nor has he discussed whether the fight will take place at middleweight or light heavyweight. Anderson Silva moving up to light heavyweight further clouds the situation, since he appears to be the impetus for the move in the first place.
