Even though rumors are swirling about former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin facing off against Keith Jardine at UFC 110 in Australia, Franklin is looking to take a bit more time off.
Two months after his last fight at UFC 103 - which saw the former middleweight champion suffer a TKO loss to Vitor Belfort - the frequent fighter is enjoying some time off.
"I am not sure about my return in 2010," Franklin told MMA.FanHouse.com. "I know I need a few months off. I will wake up one morning and say, 'It's time to fight.' Until then, I'm getting some much needed time."
Franklin holds a 26-5 (1 NC) MMA record and has fought in the light-heavyweight division and the middleweight division, where he captured the title in 2005 by defeating Evan Tanner. Franklin defended his title twice before eventually losing it to Anderson Silva a year and a half later in 2006.
Even though the former high-school math teacher has gone 1-2 in his 2009 fights - losing to Belfort and Dan Henderson - he defeated Wanderlei Silva in 2009, and holds other notable wins over Matt Hamill, Travis Lutter, Tanner (x2), Ken Shamrock and Marvin Eastman.
