Rice Franklin is expecting an all out brawl when he steps into the cage to face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 133 according to mmamania.com.
Both men have displayed solid striking skills in their past bouts, Franklin sent Chuck Liddell into retirement with a knockout win at UFC 115 and Nogueira's crisp boxing KOed Luiz Cane at UFC 106.
"I don't know, I've never wanted to call fights or anything like that. I'll say this much...I'm preparing for a stand up battle with him, but it really wouldn't surprise me if for this camp he decided to take it to the ground...It's going to be a tough fight for sure. The Nogueira brothers, these guys are definitely difficult to knock out for sure so I don't see this being something that's going to end in the first round. This has potential war written all over it" Franklin said.
Franklin (28-6 (1 no contest)) has been up and down lately, going 3-3 in a six fight span. In his last bout, Franklin loss a unanimous decision to Forrest Griffin at UFC 126 after a hard fought fight.
Nogueira (19-5) isn't much better as of late, dropping successive bouts to light heavyweight prospects in Ryan Bader and Phil Davis. His most recent loss to Davis boiled down to Nogueira's inability to stop Davis' persistent takedowns which eventually cost him the fight.
The two will meet in the main card at UFC 133 on August 6 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The event is headlined by a rematch between Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans.
