Mike Pierce (12-3) will meet Johny Hendricks (10-1) at UFC 133, according to MMAJunkie.com.
UFC 133 is currently scheduled for August 6 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
After a surprising upset over Brock Larson in his UFC debut, Pierce was matched up against one of the best welterweights of all time in Jon Fitch. Pierce kept the fight competitive over the course of the first two rounds and then had Fitch wobbled and in danger in the third. Pierce couldn't put away the gritty Fitch and lost the decision but he still showed a tremendous upside in the defeat. Since then Pierce has won three straight, including two straight stoppages.
Coming out of college, Johny Hendricks was viewed as one of the next big things in MMA. A two time NCAA champion wrestler and one time runner-up, Hendricks was said to have the wrestling and striking to make it big. After transitioning to Team Takedown, Hendricks began his career 9-0, with victories over Amir Sadollah and T.J. Grant. He then met fellow prospect Rick Story and dropped a unanimous decision. Hendricks rebounded with a first round stoppage over T.J. Walburger at UFC Fight Night 24.
UFC 133 will be headlined by a light heavyweight showdown between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis.
