Rodney Wallace vs. Stanislav Nedkov officially added to UFC 117 prelims
by Jacob Camargo on June 05, 2010

The UFC recently announced a new addition to its UFC 117 card, as a light-heavyweight bout between Rodney Wallace and newcomer Stanislav Nedkov was officially added to the event's non-televised preliminary portion.

Four previously reported bouts were also officially added to the preliminary portion of UFC 117, including a light-heavyweight bout between Thiago Silva and Tim Boetsch as well as three welterweight bouts: Dustin Hazelett vs. Rick Story, Ben Saunders vs. Dennis Hallman and Johny Hendricks vs. Charlie Brenneman.

Wallace (9-2) will be fighting for his future in the UFC after losing his first two bouts in the promotion against Brian Stann at TUF 10 Finale and most recently Jared Hammon at UFC 111 in March. Wallace and Hammon both took home an extra $65,000, as their UFC 111 bout was awarded the "Fight of the Night" bonus.

Prior to entering the UFC, Wallace won the first nine bouts of his career, which included winning an eight-man tournament at last September's Vendetta Fighting Championship: "A Night of Vengeance" in Aruba, defeating Gregory Milliard, Aaron Stark and Antwain Britt in the same night.

Nedkov most recently defeated Augustin Helgiu at BMMAF: "Warriors 13" on May 21. The Bulgarian fighter previously put together a 2-0 mark with World Victory Road's Sengoku event series in Japan, defeating UFC veterans Travis Wiuff and Kevin Randleman.

Nedkov has competed for other notable organizations during his four-year career such as Pancrese and Shooto Bulgaria. He enters the UFC with an undefeated 11-0 MMA record, with stoppages coming in nine of his 11 victories.

The recently announced UFC 117 event takes place on August 7 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California and will be headlined by a UFC middleweight title bout between current champion Anderson Silva and outspoken challenger Chael Sonnen.

In addition, former longtime UFC welterweight champion and recent UFC Hall-of-Fame inductee Matt Hughes will meet Ricardo Almeida in the night's co-main event. Also featured on the main card is a lightweight bout between popular veteran Clay Guida and Brazilian submission expert Rafael dos Anjos.

 |  (3) Comments Anthony: A not-so-funny thing is going to happen to Rodney Wallace on his way to 170 where he belongs. He's gonna get KTFO'd by this Bulgarian dude. Anthony: I don't think Wallace is big enough for even MW.
