MFS-trained fighter Rory Markham will fight TJ Grant in a welterweight tilt set for the "Ultimate Fighter" season 9 Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 20. The news of the bout was produced by MMAmania.com and later confirmed by Five Knuckles.
Grant was originally set to fight Martin Kampmann at the finale, however, Kampmann turned down this fight due to a higher interest in better ranked opponents.
Rory Markham hasn't fought since losing to British export Dan Hardy at UFC 95 back in February. Prior to his UFC 95 loss, IFL veteran, Markham, had been on a two-fight win streak, with wins over Jay Ellis at Adrenaline MMA 1 and Brodie Farber in his UFC debut at UFN 14.
TJ Grant is currently on a five-fight win streak and made a successful UFC debut in his last fight defeating Pride veteran Ryo Chonan at UFC 97. Grant bolsters an impressive 14-2 MMA record, with 12 wins by way of submission.
TUF 9 Finale is headlined by a lightweight match-up between Diego Sanchez vs. Clay Guida and features another lightweight bout between Nate Diaz and Joe Stevenson. As always the participants of this season's Ultimate Fighter have their chance to secure a six figure contract from the UFC. TUF 9 Finale will feature two final bouts in the lightweight and welterweight divisions.
