A lightweight bout between "The Ultimate Fighter" season 9 winner Ross Pearson and Cole Miller is expected to take place at UFC Fight Night 22 on September 15. News of the bout was first reported by MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani.
The location and venue for the event has yet to be determined, but it will likely be headlined by a middleweight bout between Alan Belcher and Demian Maia and will probably serve as the lead-in for Spike TV's debut episode of "The Ultimate Fighter" (TUF) season 12.
Pearson (11-3) is currently riding a four-fight winning streak, which includes wins in his first three UFC bouts over Andre Winner, Aaron Riley and most recently Dennis Siver at UFC Fight Night 21 in March.
During his five-year career, Pearson has competed on the local U.K. circuit for notable promotions such as Goshin Ryu MMA Championships, Cage Warriors Fighting Championships and Cage Rage. He has scored stoppage wins in eight of his 11 career victories.
Miller (16-4) was originally slated to face Andre Winner at UFC Fight Night 21 on March 31, however, he was forced off of the card with an injury.
Miller is 3-1 in his last four bouts, most recently notching a first round submission victory over Dan Lauzon at UFC 108 on Jan. 2. He finished Lauzon with a creative inverted triangle choke and kimura hold, which earned him "Submission of the Night" honors. His lone loss over that stretch came in his previous bout against TUF 8 champion Efrain Escudero at UFC 103 in September.
Miller, who was a cast member on TUF 5, sports a 5-2 UFC record, with other notable Octagon wins coming over Leonard Garcia, Jorge Gurgel and Junie Browning, while suffering his only other UFC loss against hard-hitting Jeremy Stephens.
