Rousimar Palhares (12-3) will face Alexandre Ferreira (18-7) at UFC 134, according to Portal Do Vale Tudo. MMAJunkie later confirmed the bout.
UFC 134 is slated to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 27.
The two were already matched up with each other at UFC on Versus 3, but Ferreira was forced to withdraw from the bout due to the tragic floods that hit Brazil.
Palhares hopes to continue his winning ways after his impressive kneebar victory over David Branch at UFC on Versus 3. Prior to that, Palhares lost to Nate Marquardt due to a controversial TKO stoppage. During the bout Palhares motioned towards the referee that Marquardt had a slippery substance on his leg after Marquardt easily slipped out of a kneebar attempt. While Palhares was preoccupied with the referee, Marquardt jumped in and TKO'ed Palhares.
Palhares would later apologize for the gestures and admit his mistake. Regardless, an otherwise intriguing middleweight contest was marred by a confusing stoppage.
Meanwhile, Alexandre Ferreira will drop down to the middleweight division for the first time. The stocky 5' 7'' fighter has always fought at 205 prior. In his UFC debut, Ferreira was quickly stopped by the surging Vladimir Matyushenko. It halted a seven fight winning streak.
UFC 134 will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami.
