Roy Nelson plans to speak with UFC president, Dana White, on his future with the promotion and nutritionist, Mike Dolce, is interested in revamping his physique according to mmaweekly.com.
After losing his most recent fight with Frank Mir at UFC 130 and now on a two fight skid, Nelson is in a need of a regime change says White.
"I have a meeting with him on Friday, and we'll see what happens. I'm not happy about the performance from either one of them. It was borderline embarrassing" White said on mmaweekly.com.
Nelson has billed himself as the "everyman" within the sport, but his weight and conditioning has been an issue as of late. In his bout with Mir, Nelson was noticeably gassed in the third round of the fight.
It is clear some type of change needs to take place in order for Nelson to get back in the wining column. The man to help Nelson get there might be Dolce, who has worked with the likes of Quinton Jackson, Michael Bisping and Thiago Alves. In fact, he has spent considerable time with Jackson as his nutritionist and strength/conditioning coach.
Dolce and Nelson have met before, both in the IFL and their run-in on The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights.
"In my honest and humble opinion, I believe I could help Roy Nelson unlock his full potential as an athlete, as a fighter, but also in health potential as a human being" Dolce said on mmaweekly.com.
Nelson is going to speak with White on Friday, a partnership with Dolce remains to be seen.
