Roy Nelson wanted Zak Jensen, not Kimbo Slice
by Natalia Baage on September 27, 2009

"Rashad [Evans] took us all in the back and said, ‘Okay, who would you like to fight? Who do you think you match up good with?' The whole nine yeards. And then you just kind of picked who you wanted. Me? I went in there and was like, ‘I want Zak [Jensen].' They were like, ‘Why do you want Zak?' I was like, ‘Well, he got gogoplata-ed by Brad Imes, so I want Zak.' They were like, ‘You match better against Kimbo.' I'm like, ‘No, I don't. I match really good with Zak. Trust me." - Roy Nelson

Roy Nelson explains the situation that lead up to him being selected to fight against Kimbo Slice for the third fight in The Ultimate Fighter. Nelson explained to MMAWeekly.com that he didn't want to fight Slice - he wanted to fight Zak Jensen.

The coaching staff on Tead Rashad lead him in another direction, which, Nelson said, was a business decision.

Nelson continued to say that there were at least three other fighters on his team that wanted a chance to fight Slice. However, due to Nelson's experience and background with the IFL, the coaches chose him for the fight.

The Nelson vs. Slice fight will air on the upcoming episode of The Ultimate Fighter 10 on Wednesday at 10 p.m.
