"I thought he was cocky, but he's changed my mind. I should have known better because I've been around reality TV and the hype machine. I was rooting for Kimbo in his last fight. He looks like he's a great guy and has put a lot on the line. He's going to get better and will be a big star in the UFC if they bring him up right. It's a business and Spike is going to market around people who can draw in those numbers like he did." - Ryan Bader
Ryan Bader, winner of The Ultimate Fighter season 8, commented to Fight Magazine on the hype that surrounds Kimbo Slice on the 10th season of TUF.
Many fans, including Bader, knew Slice as the backyard brawler and EliteXC veteran. They knew his style - power - but did not know much else about him. Throughout his time on TUF 10, fans have been able to see that Slice is a humble fighter who has a passion for the sport and works hard to improve.
Bader admitted that he made a quick and unfair judgment about Slice, and should have known better than to do so because he has been through the reality TV hype jungle as well.
While Slice has already been eliminated from TUF 10 competition after losing to Roy Nelson in the third week, he is still in the house training and improving his skills. Slice does not have a UFC contract and, as of now, cannot be considered for one because of his elimination. However, there are two ways that Slice can join the UFC. Firstly, if a contestant from his team is injured and unable to fight, Coach Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has the opportunity to pick an eliminated fighter to replace the injured fighter. And secondly, UFC President Dana White could grant Slice a contract at the season's end for being a stand out fighter during the 10th season.
