Shane Carwin: "I am a finisher and I will finish dos Santos if he crumbles."
by Jason Benfari on June 09, 2011

"Without giving too much away I think you are going to see a knockout. We both hit harder than anyone can handle. It will come down to who lands that power shot first. In my opinion, it will be me. I am more explosive and faster now and equally as powerful (as before the surgery). I am a finisher and I dare any man to try to sustain through that. Letting me pound on you is a very low percentage path to victory in my opinion. I am a finisher and I will finish dos Santos if he crumbles." -Shane Carwin via BloodyElbow.com

Shane Carwin says he will not hesitate to lay it out on the line as he did against Brock Lesnar if he gets dos Santos in trouble when the two square off this Saturday in a heavyweight title eliminator fight. The winner of this fight has been all but guarenteed a shot at current UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez

Carwin (12-1) took heavy criticism after his fight against Brock Lesnar for "gassing out" while trying to finish Lesnar in the same way he's finished each of his other 13 professional fights - by the end of the first round. However, Lesnar, while hurt badly in the fights' first frame, was able to weather the storm and came back in the second round to choke out a clearly exhausted Carwin.

Carwin is said to have been working hard on his training and diet and has dropped over 15-pounds of weight after undergoing surgery to repair an ongoing back issue. He's expected to weigh-in up to 10 pounds lighter against dos Santos than he did in his last fight against Lesnar, and states that he's quicker and more explosive.

 |  (34) Comments Wandering_Minstrel: I'm very excited for this fight. SicJits: Carwin should've said "if he crumbles.....in the 1st":D Mickey knox: Can't wait fot this fight, I really like both guys and will be happy eitherway it goes. I do think Shane will be too much in the opening round for Junior, but either way, it's gonna be fun to watch. GO HARD: Dos Santos by front kick in the mouth!! nygiant: This is a tough fight to call. If it stays standing, I would go with Dos Santos...better boxing...faster...great chin. If it goes to the ground I can see Carwin winning if he doesn't gas again. And Dos Santos will be giving up about 20/25lbs Cryptic_Soldier: Im sorry I dont agree with everyone and thier mamma saying Carwin has bad cardio... Call it drinking the coolaide or whatever but Carwin only gassed in 1 fight and there were contibuiting factors. 1 back neck issues, 2 the extra 20ish pounds of bodyfat he was carrying to either try and bulk up for brock or more likly because he could not train as hard with the back neck issues... Watch his UFC Debut fight or any of his pre UFC fights, Im tellin you dude was cut like a motherF-er. and if you look at him in every fight since he KO'd Zaga he has looked fatter and fatter. He had a f-in muffin top when he went in against brock.... Now Im not by any means advocating that carwin is a cardio machine but to think an anthlete of his stature is gonna gas in 5 min when he is caliming to be in 100% condition to me is insulting. No one thinks Brock is gonna go out to a fight and gas in the first.... No one thinks JDS is gonna gas even though he looked as bad as Mir did in his fight with big country. I just think its crap everyone is pulling for JDS saying he will weather the round 1 storm and then Ko carwin in the second or sub him or whatever. Like Cariwn is a HW phil baroni or somthing... Lady Dragon 420: I can't believe Carwin lost he made me look bad:( GO HARD: i actually thought it should have been stopped in the 1st.... but he got cleaned up and went out there and fought .... so i guess i was wrong.... but he was balled up , not doing a thang.
