A battle of unbeaten heavyweight prospects will take place at the Strikeforce Challengers: "Evangelista vs. Gurgel" event as former WBO Muay Thai champion Shane Del Rosario and three-time War Gods veteran Brandon Cash will square off on the televised portion of the card.
MMAjunkie.com first received news of the bout from Strikeforce executive Mike Afromowitz.
Del Rosario may be best known for going 3-0 in the ShoXC: Elite Challenger Series events in 2008, scoring wins over Amedeo Viola, Analu Brash and Carl Seumanutafa. His contact was picked up by Strikeforce in the Pro Elite sale late last year.
Del Rosario most recently has gone 3-0 with M-1, where he defeated Lloyd Marshbanks in his last bout at M-1 Challenge 19 on Sept. 26. The Team Oyama fighter has put together an 8-0 MMA record during his three-year professional career, with all his wins being by stoppage, including seven by TKO or KO.
Cash is coming off of a first-round TKO win over Steve Gavin at PFC: "Best of Both Worlds" in February. He previously picked up three straight wins in the War Gods promotion from July 2008 to Nov. 2008. Since turning pro in May 2008, Cash has put together a 5-0 MMA record, with four of his wins being by stoppage.
Strikeforce Challengers: "Evangelista vs. Gurgel" takes place on Nov. 6 from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., and the main card airs live on Showtime.
The event is headlined by a lightweight bout between UFC veteran Jorge Gurgel and undefeated lightweight prospect Billy Evangelista. TUF 7 cast member Jesse Taylor and Luke Rockhold will also face each other on the televised portion of the card.
