Shaq Trains MMA, Takes On Challengers, Details
by FiveKnuckles.com Staff on October 01, 2007

Shaquille O'Neal spent much of this off season training MMA. He's a long time UFC fan and has been spotted at multiple events over the years. O'Neal said he's been fighting in the cage to increase stamina and stay in shape during an unusually long off-season.

"This was the first time I had time to get ready," said O'Neal. "In my career I've always played late through a season and I've just had 15 or 20 days just to reset my body."

This off-season, O'Neal has had over five months to prepare for the upcoming season. Shaq has used some of that time to take on challengers.

"You have headgear and so on, it is basically like boxing with wrestling rules," said O'Neal. "I'm a fan of the sport. I started doing it and then some guys challenged me."
