The match up for the world ranked lightweight, Shinya Aoki, at Dream's opening event of 2011 is still uncertain according to mmafighting.com.
Aoki has been on a four fight win streak since his unanimous decision lost to Gilbert Melendez in mid-2010. His last outing was swift victory over Lyle Beebohm at Strikeforce: Diaz vs Daley, winning in the first round via neck crank.
Although there have been talks of Aoki fighting former WEC lightweight champion, Jamie Varner, no official agreement has been made. Other fights with UFC veterans, Antonio McKee and Willamy Freire, also failed to materialize.
Meanwhile another featherweight match up has been booked for the event now dubbed "Fight for Japan". Koichiro Matsumoto, 12-2, will battle with Takeshi "Lion Takeshi" Inoue, 19-5.
Matsumoto has been on a roll as of late, stringing together a five fight win streak with the most recent being a TKO victory over Shoji Maruyama at Deep 51-Impact.
Lion Takeshi will look to build momentum with a win over Matsumoto as he recently snapped a two fight skid with a TKO victory over Taiki Tsuchiya at Shooto Tradition 2011.
