ShoMMA: "Strikeforce Challengers" debut event is now officially in the books.  The event debuted Friday night at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California and the main card aired live on Showtime.

The evening's headliner between Billy Evangelista and Mike Aina came to a unfortunate end as the contest was stopped in the second round due to a questionable illegal knee landed by Evangelista to the head of a downed Aina. The first round was a back and forth battle with both men earning points. But in the second, Evangelista began to open up unleashing a barrage of vicious elbows to Aina from the top postition. As Aina was trying to get up, he was hit with a illegal knee and the fight was called after Aina was examined by the cageside physician. Aina was awarded the win due to, what was ruled, an illegal knee.

In the co-main event, Miesha Tate valiantly survived three rounds with Sarah Kaufman but that effort wasn't enough to earn a victory. Kaufman controlled the fight with superior striking and excellent takedown defense.

In other main card action, Lavar Johnson knocked out Carl Seumanutafa just 18 seconds into their heavyweight affair. Light-heavyweights Aaron Rosa and Anthony Ruiz battled it out in a fight that didn't make it out of the first round as Rosa put Ruiz to sleep via a rear naked choke near the end of the round. Bao Quach opened up the telecast by scoring a decision win over Tito Jones.
