UFC light heavyweight, Mauricio Rua, voices his desires to rematch Jon Jones in the near future according to fightersonlymagazine.co.uk.
Rua, more famously known as Shogun, is at the heels of dominant TKO dismantling of Forrest Griffin at UFC 134 which also avenged his previous loss to Griffin at UFC 76. Rua now seeks to settle another score with the man that took his belt, Jones.
"A rematch with Jon Jones is a goal of mine. Of the five losses in my career, I have won three rematches. Only one of them won't happen, which is the loss against Babalu because today he's part of the team (Kings MMA), so this fight won't happen," Shogun said.
His recent win over Griffin didn't just avenge a defeat but as UFC president, Dana White, points out, it also puts Shogun back in the picture for title contention.
"It was a big win for him. Shogun just lost the title to Jon Jones...then beats Forrest Griffin, who's one of the top light heavyweights in the world. It puts ‘Shogun' right back in the title hunt...There is no doubt that Shogun is one of the best in the world. He is probably two fights away from being considered again," White said.
Currently Shogun is unscheduled for future UFC events, his next opponent unknown. Jones is set to defend his title for the first time against heavy underdog Quinton Jackson on September 24 at UFC 135.
