Chael Sonnen always had a way with words and now accuses Junior dos Santos for faking a knee injury preceding fight with Cain Velasquez as a marketing angle according to fightersonlymagazine.co.uk.
Dos Santos dethroned Velasquez recently at UFC on Fox to become the new UFC heavyweight champion. Following their fight, dos Santos revealed that he was walking with crutches in the weeks leading up to their bout due to a torn meniscus.
"Junior dos Santos saying he's got a knee injury. Look... if that's marketing, fine, but if he legitimately had an injury, this is the biggest story to come out of that night because that is a violation against the Athletic Commission...I think he's lying to the media, and that's fine. If he lies to the government, big problems," Sonnen said.
Among those problems, as Sonnen points out, are a possible fine and even a suspension if dos Santos hid his injury from the California Athletic Commission.
Currently no action against dos Santos has been taken by the California Athletic Commission. For Sonnen his recent accusation against "Cigano" might just be another attempt to bait his friend/teammate, Anderson Silva, into a rematch .
