Hard-hitting lightweights Spencer Fisher and Duane Ludwig are in talks to face each other at UFC Fight Night 21 in March, according to MMAWeekly.com.
Fisher (23-5) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Joe Stevenson at UFC 104 in October. Prior to the loss, he had won three straight fights against Jeremy Stephens, Shannon Gugerty and Caol Uno. Fisher has put together a 8-4 UFC record since debuting with the promotion in October 2005, scoring other notable Octagon wins over Thiago Alves, Matt Wiman, Dan Lauzon and Sam Stout.
The SuperBrawl, Extreme Challenge and Victory Fighting Championship veteran has finished 19 of his 23 career wins and holds notable victories over his seven-year career against Josh Neer and Randy Hauer.
Ludwig (19-10), who will be competing in front of his hometown, is fresh off a first round submission loss against Jim Miller at UFC 108 on Jan. 2 in a fight he took on short notice replacing the injured Sean Sherk. Prior to the loss, he was 3-1 in his past four fights to earn a callback with the promotion. His only loss over that stretch came against the undefeated Lyle Beerbohm at Strikeforce Challengers II: "Villasenor vs. Cyborg" in June.
Ludwig sports a 2-1 UFC record, scoring Octagon wins over Genki Sudo and Jonathan Goulet. During his 10-year career, he has competed for other notable promotions such as Ring of Fire, King of the Cage and Sengoku. "Bang" has scored stoppages in 16 of his 19 career wins and holds notable victories over the likes of Charles Bennett, Thomas Denny, Jens Pulver, Tony Fryklund and Yves Edwards.
The newly announced UFC Fight Night 21 event takes place on March 21 at The Odeum Colorado in Broomfield, Colo , and it's the first of two UFC events that will air live on Versus. The event is headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between Jon Jones and Brandon Vera.
