Spike TV's one-hour broadcast of the preliminary fights before the event, called "UFC Prelim," is returning for UFC 109.
According to a source close to MMAJunkie.com, the two featured fights will be between lightweights Mac Danzig (2-3 UFC) and Justin Buchholz (1-3 UFC), and another another 155-lbs. battle of Melvin Guillard (5-4 UFC) and Ronnys Torres (newcomer). The prelim fights are set to take place on Feb. 6 from Las Vegas, beginning at 9 p.m. EST on Spike TV, before the main card goes live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m.
The UFC has not yet made an official statement regarding the prelim broadcast or the possible fighters.
As announced earlier, Spike TV is set to air 10 "UFC Prelim" broadcasts over the course of 2010. UFC 109 will be their second preliminary show. The broadcast prior was for UFC 108 on Jan. 2, which earned 1.5 million viewers.
The main card for UFC 109 will be headlined by a heavyweight battle between Hall-of-Famers Randy Couture and Mark Coleman. Other fights on the card include middleweight battles of Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen, and Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller, while the welterweight division match ups include Mike Swick vs. Paulo Thiago, and Frank Trigg vs. Matt Serra.
