A light-heavyweight bout between Stephan Bonnar and Krzysztof Soszynski, first reported for UFC 110 back in November, has been made official today by the UFC for the event's un-aired preliminary card.
Bonnar (11-6) has lost his last two bouts against the likes of Jon Jones at UFC 94 and, most recently, against Mark Coleman at UFC 100. Prior to the losses, he won back-to-back fights against Mike Nickels and Eric Schafer.
The Ultimate Fighter season one light-heavyweight runner-up has put together an even 5-5 record in 10 fights with the UFC, scoring other Octagon wins over the likes of Sam Hoger, James Irvin and Keith Jardine; while suffering notable UFC losses to Rashad Evans and Forrest Griffin (x2).
Soszynski (18-9-1) suffered his first UFC loss in his last bout, when he was defeated by Brandon Vera at UFC 102 in August. Prior to the loss, he had won six straight fights, including wins in his first three UFC bouts over Shane Primm, Brian Stann and Andre Gusmao. Two of his three Octagon wins have earned him "Submission of the Night" honors.
UFC 110 takes place on Feb. 21 at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia, and is headlined by a heavyweight bout between contenders Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cain Velasquez.
In the co-main event, the U.K.'s Michael Bisping and former Pride superstar Wanderlei Silva will battle it out in a middleweight war. Other bouts featured on the main card include George Sotiropoulos vs. Joe Stevenson, Ryan Bader vs. Keith Jardine and Mirko Filipovic ("Cro Cop") vs. Ben Rothwell.
