Steve Cantwell drops down to middleweight to face Mike Massenzio at UFC 136 according to mmaweekly.com.
Cantwell's (7-4) change in weight classes comes in the light of a three fight losing streak within the light heavyweight division. Cantwell has not won a fight in nearly three years since his UFC debut against Razak Al-Hassan, he won via armbar and dislocated Al-Hassan's elbow in the process. Cantwell was the WEC's light heavyweight champion, defeating Brian Stann for the title, prior to his introduction into the UFC.
Massenzio (12-5) has had an equally rocky performance as of late, going 2-3 in his last five fights. Aside from his lone victory against Drew McFedries in his UFC debut in 2008, Massenzio also hasn't notched a victory in the UFC since. His most recent bout was taken on short notice against Krzysztof Soszynski, Massenzio was defeated via unanimous decision.
Both men would be fighting for their UFC careers at UFC 136 since both men are 1-3 in the UFC.
UFC 136 held on October 8 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas is scheduled to be headlined by two title fights. The UFC's lightweight championship bout between Gray Maynard and Frankie Edgar and defending featherweight champion, Jose Aldo, to fight Kenny Florian.
