Strikeforce Challengers: "Woodley vs. Bears" which is the promotion's fifth challenger series offering, is officially set to go down as all 22 fighters competing on tomorrow's event tipped the scales and will fight tomorrow at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS.
The event take places tomorrow night, Nov. 20, at the same venue with the main card set to be televised on Showtime beginning at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
Headlining the event is a welterweight bout between undefeated prospect Tyron Woodley and local veteran Rudy Bears who has won six-straight. Woodley came in at the 171-pound welterweight limit, while Bears tipped the scales at 170 lbs.
The co-main event will be the female version of the UFC 105 main event, as Kerry Vera will face Kim "Sugar Free" Couture in a 135-pound women's bout. Brandon Vera's wife, Kerry, came in at 135 lbs and Randy Couture's ex-wife, Kim, weighed in at 136 lbs.
Additional match-ups to be featured on the main card include a very interesting light-heavyweight bout between talented prospects Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante and Aaron Rosa . In addition, Erik Apple and Bobby Voelker will square off in a welterweight bout and middleweights Kevin Casey and Chad Vance will look to kick off the televised portion of the card with a bang.
Also of note, preliminary card fighters Brian Davidson and Lucas Lopes came in over the weight limit in their respectful fights, however, the bouts have been given the official green light and are set to go down. Strikeforce has not revealed if their will be any penalties for either fighter.
Davidson came in at 147 lbs, which is one pound over the 146-pound limit for his featherweight bout against Russell Patrick. Lopes weighed in at 191.4 lbs, which is four-tenths of a pound over the 191-pound allowance for his 190-pound catchweight bout against Dominic Brown.
