The official weigh-in ceremony for Strikeforce: "Evolution" took place today from Ballrooms 1-4 of the San Jose Marriott in Downtown San Jose, California.

Strikeforce: "Evolution" takes place tomorrow night, Dec. 19, at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, and the event's main card will be televised on Showtime beginning at 10 p.m. EST.

All fighters made weight on their first attempt, with the exception of one preliminary card fighter, David Douglas. Douglas initially weighed 157.5 lbs, which is a pound and a half over the 156-pound lightweight limit. He made weight on his second attempt after the weigh-in ceremony coming in at 156 lbs.

Douglas is actually a late replacement for Alex Trevino and will face Bobby Stack. It is not yet known why Trevino was scratched from the card.

Strikeforce: "Evolution" is headlined by a middleweight bout between former Strikeforce middleweight champion and the hard-hitting Scott Smith. Le weighed 184 pounds, while Smith tipped the scale at 185.5.

In the co-main event, the Strikeforce lightweight title situation will be settled, as Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson and Strikeforce interim title-holder Gilbert Melendez will battle to unify the belts. Both Melendez and Thomson stripped down for their attempts, with Thomson coming in at 153 pounds and Melendez weighing in at 154 pounds.

Other bouts featured on the main card include Matt Lindland vs. Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza in a middleweight fight which will mark each of their Strikeforce debuts.

In what was the biggest weight gap for the event, Strikeforce newcomer Mohammed "King Mo" Lawal weighed in at a very light 218.5 for his heavyweight bout against Mike Whitehead, who came in quite a bit heavier at 261.5.

Also of note, there are now just four preliminary card bouts after the cancellation of a previously announced match up between Juan Nunez and Luis Mendoza. It is not yet known why the bout was scrapped from the event.
