Strikeforce heavyweight, Brett Rogers, was arrested and charged with third degree assault according to bloodyelbow.com.

Rogers was reported to have been involved in a domestic altercation with his wife during the early hours of Wednesday, June 30.

A heated argument led to Rodgers strangling his wife until she passed out. Other injuries include a golf ball sized wound on her face, smaller wounds throughout her body and losing a tooth in the struggle. Rodgers admitted to have been drinking alcohol before the argument.

In addition to the third degree assault charge, the 30 year old Rogers is also facing endangerment of a child since his nine year old daughter was present during the altercation. The latter would constitute as a gross misdemeanor while his other charges, assault in the third degree, domestic assault by strangulation and pattern of stalking conduct, are all felonies within Dakota County, Minnesota where Rodgers resides.

If convicted, Rogers can face up to five years in jail with an additional fine of $10,000.

Rogers arrived in court on Thursday for the first time, being held at a $100,000 bail, and is due back in court on Friday.

Rogers' most recent MMA bout was a submission loss to Josh Barnett at the quarterfinals of Strikerforce's heavyweight grand prix tournament earlier this month.

 |  (35) Comments Wandering_Minstrel: So much for his MMA career. mike5k: Wow, if this is accurate I'm disgusted. Guys who beat on girls make me sick and pro fighters who are literally among the toughest dudes on the planet shouldn't be hitting anybody outside of a cage, especially a woman. Pathetic. seedheadondatrak: Complete disappointment...enough said illegalpoke: Don't even know what to say here. I'm heart broken. Giada Esposito: Wow, if this turns out to be true I'm completely disgusted. I hope the guy gets locked away as long as possible, there's no excuse for that at all. And the fact that he's a HUGE MMA fighter and a little kid was present make it even worse. And guys, please be careful with the swearing in the news section. I know this is an emotional issue, but we need to edit ourselves! 0311USMC: If they push the issue I think the most they could hit him with is Agg. Assault, but if he is booked on these charges it is unlikely they will get bumped up. thug4less: Crazy, man. Freakin' crazy. It might have been, in addition to the drugs, all the fights he had been losing. They might have been arguing about money and him getting his butt whooped so often. SMH. Suicidalforlife: Wow Rogers is an absolute dirtbag idiot , on a lighter note maybe his wife should have just gone for the takedown........... he can't defend those might have tipped the scales in her favour ....... Cryptic_Soldier: What a loser. Somtimes I wish there were no laws so I could shoot guys like this in the face without reprocussion. The Hitman: How dumb can you be? SicJits: I lost respect for Rogers, his wife, and their posse last year. He was a guest at a local ammy show here. They introduced him and his wife "Tee Rogers" as a national recording artist!?! So she sings the National Anthem and Brett and their posse were dancing and waving their arms over their head and shouting for her?!!? It's the dang National Anthem, not one of her horrible songs you have to pretend to like! Sit still and shut ur darn mouths during the Anthem! No respect so what he did is not at all surprising to me....and he was a rude di...... HackBennys: That sucks man, I was really a fan of Brett Rogers, but I have no respect for men who beat women, especially a person who is trained to beat people.
