The California based Strikeforce promotion continues its recent spending spree with the signing of undefeated middleweight prospect Zak Cummings to a multi-fight, mutli-year contract. News of the signing comes via MMAjunkie.com.
According to the report, Cummings will make his debut with the promotion at the September 25 Strikeforce Challengers event and is in discussions to take on TUF 7 cast member Paul Bradley.
Cummings scored an impressive first-round TKO win in his latest fight over Dominic Brown in April. Since turning pro in November 2007 following a 4-0 amatuer record, he has put together an undefeated 10-0 MMA record, with 4 wins by submission and 3 by TKO. Cummings holds a notable win over UFC veteran Terry Martin.
Bradley is coming off a win over Leonardo Pecanha at UCFC: "Rumble on the Rivers" in June. Prior to the win, he suffered his first career loss to WEC veteran Mike Pierce at RIE: "Brotherly Love Brawl" in April. He holds notable wins over Nathan Coy and Dante Rivera.
The September 25 Strikeforce Challengers event will take place in Fresno, California. Other fights rumored for the event include a lightweight bout between Jorge Gurgel and Billy Evangelista as well as a middleweight bout between Tim Kennedy and Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos.
