I began training for MMA about seven years ago and have started my career with a record of 10-0 upon entering the house. What happens in the upcoming weeks...... you will have to watch.
As an MMA fighter you can say it's everyone's goal to make it onto this show and win the contract. I've personally worked for this goal for the past 7 years. It was very rewarding to know that through hard work and dedication I have made it onto the show and been given the opportunity to fight for the UFC.
When I first walked in the room I was pretty amazed by all the pictures of the former champions hanging on the walls. It was a surreal feeling to come to the place that had taken so many fighters in my exact position (Forrest Griffin, Diego Sanchez, Rashad Evans and Keith Jardine) and made them into UFC champions or top contenders in their respective divisions.
It was actually very funny to walk into the room and listen while Rampage and Rashad were talking smack to each other. You could tell from the very beginning that the bad blood between them was for real and not made for TV. But that was not the only funny thing that happened that day. It was actually a bit funny when we walked in to the house and found out we had no water. Some of us either got in the pool while the rest went on to another house to shower.
Everyone was a little thrown by the fact that Kimbo entered the room and was part of the cast but at the same time he did not intimidate anyone. As a matter of fact, a lot of the guys wanted to be the first to fight him. Rampage gave him the benefit of the doubt and made Kimbo his first pick. As we were waiting, I was thinking to myself that I didn't care when I was picked I was just very happy to be there. After we all picked teams we all went back to the house and had a BBQ.
We checked out the house and got a chance to all hang out and get to know each other a little better. The next day we all waited to be picked by the coaches. During this process we all had to team up. Eight of us went with Rashad and the other eight went with Rampage. From there we did basic stuff, hitting bags, wrestling, grappling. Rashad was watching for our combination and head movements. While with Rampage he let us pretty much beat on each other. I was grouped up with Brendan Schaub, Justin Wren, and Mick Wessel.
My evaluation on the first fight between Wagner and Madsen was that it was really one-sided. Madsen pretty much dominated the entire fight with his wrestling. It seemed like Wagner was not even trying to get back up or do anything. To be honest it was a bit boring. After the fight, we walked in while the doctor was giving him stitches. His cut started at his eyebrow and went to the back of his head. I can guarantee that the next fight will be more exciting.
