by Jacob Camargo on December 09, 2009

The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Tuesday issued nine medical suspensions to fighters who competed on The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale fight card. The event took place on December 5 from The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

From the list of TUF 10 finale fighters issued medical suspensions, only four of the nine were victorious, including co-main event fighter Matt Hamill, John Howard, Matt Mitrione and James McSweeney.

TUF 10 Finale co-headliner Matt Hamill, who was awarded a disqualification win against Jon Jones, could be facing a lengthy suspension (June 4, 2010) unless his left-shoulder injury is cleared by a doctor.

Three other TUF 10 finale fighters including Matt Mitrione, James McSweeney, Justin Wren also face lengthy medical suspensions that require doctor's clearance. The injuries for the aforementioned three individuals range from a hand injury to a wrist injury and a possible facial-bone injury. Once individuals get clearance, their suspensions are lifted and they are free to resume competing. If they aren't cleared by a doctor their suspensions will run until June 4, 2010.

In addition, Darrill Schoonover is suspended indefinitely due to an eye injury until cleared by an ophthalmologic doctor. However, he will not be competing anytime soon, as he was recently called back to active duty in the military and will serve a 400-day (13+ month) tour in Afghanistan.
