TUF 10 Finale scores 3.7 million viewers; Kimbo scores 5.2 million

Even though Kimbo Slice was eliminated in the third week of the show, he still drew the most viewers at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale.

The season finale earned a solid 3.7 million viewers over the course of the three-hour broadcast on Spike TV, which aired on Saturday, Dec. 5.  But with the ratings that Slice pulled during his fight with Houston Alexander, that number rose to 5.2 million.

Fans, commentators and fellow fighters, alike, all expected to see punches thrown with a KO win for one of the fighters.  However, the Slice vs. Alexander fight barely had any punches thrown during the first five minutes.  The first round consisted of Alexander circling the inside of the Octagon, throwing leg kicks every so often.  The bout did not gain momentum until a third of the way into the second round, when Slice grappled with Alexander and flipped him onto the mat.

At the end of three rounds, Slice was declared the winner of their 215-lbs. catchweight bout by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).

The finale's main card boasted the two finalists from TUF 10: Brendan Schaub and Roy Nelson.  Nelson KO-ed Schaub in the round one to become the season's ultimate fighter a walk away with a six-figure contract.  Jon Jones suffered a disqualification loss to Matt Hamill during their bout after delivering a few illegal 12-6 elbows to Hamill's face.  In a lightweight bout, Frankie Edgar defeated Matt Veach via rear naked choke.  In a battle between enemy TUF 10 enemy contestants, Matt Mitrione defeated Marcus Jones by KO in the second round.

While the season's ratings were not bad compared to previous years, they were dismal in relation to the hype that was created, as seen by the ratings of the first episode.  Another episode with high numbers was the third - which saw Slice take on Nelson.
