TUF 10 runner-up Brendan Schaub to face Chase Gormley at UFC Fight Night 21
by Jacob Camargo on January 12, 2010

The UFC continues to add fighters from the Mile High City to its UFC Fight Night 21 event, as Denver's own Brendan Schaub, who was the runner-up on the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter, will face Chase Gormley in a heavyweight bout slated for the card. News of the fight was first reported by MMAWeekly.com.

Schaub suffered his first career loss in his last outing, his official UFC debut, against Roy Nelson in the heavyweight final of The Ultimate Fighter 10 finale in December. Prior to the loss, he had won the first four bouts of his career, all coming via TKO or KO.

Schaub made his professional MMA debut in June 2008 after playing professional football in the Arena Football League with the Utah Blaze and he also spent time on the practice squad for the NFL's Buffalo Bills. The Ring of Fire and Ultimate Warrior Challenge veteran is a regular training partner of top UFC heavyweight contender, Shane Carwin.

Gormley was handed his first career loss at the hands of Stefan Struve in his Octagon debut at UFC 104 in October. He has been competing professionally since April 2007, while fighting for other notable organizations such as Cage of Fire, King of the Cage, Gladiator Challenge and Maximum Fighting Championships.

Gormley sports a nearly flawless MMA record of 6-1, with four of his career wins coming by stoppage. He holds notable career wins over Jon Murphy and Eric Pele.

The Versus televised UFC Fight Night 21 event takes place on March 21 at The Odeum Colorado in Broomfield, Co., and will be headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between Jon Jones and Brandon Vera.
