TUF 8 winner Efrain Escudero now facing Evan Dunham at UFC Fight Night 20
by Jacob Camargo on October 23, 2009

Less then a week ago, TUF 8 lightweight winner Efrain Escudero was reported to be facing Nik Lentz at UFC Fight Night 20. But Escudero was pulled from the bout in favor of Jeremy Stephens. No word on why a change in opponent was made.

It now appears that Escudero has secured an opponent for January's Fight Night event as he is in talks to face undefeated prospect Evan Dunham in a bout that will likely be featured on the televised portion of the card. News of the bout was first reported by MMA FanHouse.com.

Escudero is coming off of an impressive first-round TKO win over Cole Miller at UFC 103 on Sept. 19. The TKO win over Miller was Escudero's first TKO win of his career.  He previously defeated Phillipe Nover to win the TUF 8 lightweight final in Dec. 2008 at TUF 8 finale.

Escudero has fought the majority of his three-year career with the Rage in the Cage promotion, which holds it events in the Ariz. region of the southwest. He fought seven of his first 10 career bouts with RITC. "Hecho en Mexico" has put together a 12-0 MMA record, with 10 of his wins coming by stoppage, including nine by submission.

Like Escudero, Dunham has won his first two UFC bouts, scoring a first-round TKO win over Per Eklund in his UFC debut and, most recently, edging out veteran Marcus Aurelio via split decision at UFC 102 in August. The Xtreme Couture product is off to a 9-0 start to his young MMA career, scoring stoppage victories in seven of his nine wins, including five by submission.

UFC Fight Night 20 takes place on Jan. 11 in Fairfax, Virginia, which will be the promotion's first event in Virginia. The Spike TV televised event is rumored to be headined by a lightweight bout between Gray Maynard and Nate Diaz.
