The Ultimate Fighter season 9 welterweight winner James Wilks will look to get back on the winning track when he faces UFC sophomore Peter Sobotta at UFC 115 in June. News of the bout was first reported by GroundandPound.de.
Though not officially announced, UFC 115 is expected to take place on June 15 at GM Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The event could be headlined by a third fight between former UFC light-heavyweight champions and TUF 11 coaches Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz.
Wilks (6-3) suffered his first UFC loss in his last bout, as he was dealt a third round TKO against Matt Brown at UFC 105 in November. Prior to the loss, he had won four straight, including a win in his previous fight against DaMarques Johnson in the TUF 9 finale.
Wilks has competed professionally for six-years, while fighting for other notable promotions such as; King of the Cage, Total Combat and Gladitor Challenge. He has finished all of his six career wins and holds other notable wins over the likes of John Cole, Roman Mitichyan and Ray Lizama.
Sobotta (8-2) hasn't fought since losing to Paul Taylor in his UFC debut last June at UFC 99 in Germany. He was originally supposed to face DaMarques Johnson at November's UFC 105, however, he was forced off of that event due to military commitments. Prior to the loss against Taylor, he had won four straight.
Like Wilks, the Free Fight Championship veteran is also keen on finishing fights, as he has scored stoppages in all of his eight career wins.
