Fighting and Entertainment Group (FEG) has recently announced a lightweight bout between contender Tatsuya Kawajiri and promotional newcomer Melchor "Barracuda" Manibusan for its DREAM 11 event on October 6 in Yokohama, Japan.
Kawajiri (24-5-2) is 6-1 in his last seven bouts, which includes recent back-to-back wins over Ross Ebanez at DREAM 7 and Gesias "JZ" Cavalcante at DREAM 9 in May. His lone loss during the stretch came against Eddie Alvarez at DREAM 5.
The longtime Pride and Shooto veteran, Kawajiri, has been competing professionally for nine years, scoring stoppage wins in 16 of his 24 overall career wins. He holds notable victories over the likes of Luiz Azeredo, Joachim Hansen, Vitor Ribeiro and Yves Edwards.
Manibusan (2-3) has had a very spotty MMA career thus far, making a successful MMA debut in 2001 and then taking a five year break from the sport before going 1-3 in four bouts in 2006. His last fight took place in November 2006 where he was defeated by Artur Oumakhanov via third round TKO. Manibusan also holds a notable loss against current UFC lightweight contender Tyson Griffin.
Also of note, the "Barracuda" is an accomplished grappling expert. He was a world class amateur wrestler and finished fourth at the 1999 ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship.
DREAM also made official that Bob Sapp would in fact replace the injured Gegard Mousasi against Sokoudjou in the promotions "Super Hulk" tourney semifinals. Sapp makes a return to the tournament after losing in the first round against Ikuhisa Minowa.
Also made official, Gesias Cavalcante has withdrawn from his DREAM 11 bout against Daisuke Nakamura with a knee injury and a opponent has yet to be named for Nakamura.
DREAM 11 will also features the conclusion to the promotion's Featherweight Grand Prix, as well as a third match up between Joachim Hansen and Shinya Aoki for the promotion's lightweight title.
