Terry Etim vs. Rafael dos Anjos likely for UFC 112
by Jacob Camargo on January 22, 2010

A lightweight bout between Terry Etim and Rafael dos Anjos is reportedly in the works for UFC 112 in April.

Etim (14-2) was originally rumored to be facing Dennis Siver at UFC 112, howevever, that bout never materialized and Siver has since been booked against Ross Pearson at UFC Fight Night 21 on March 31.

Etim is currently riding an impressive four-fight winning streak, which include wins over Sam Stout, Brian Cobb, Justin Buchholz and most recently Shannon Gugerty at UFC 105 in November. Prior to the wins, he suffered his first UFC and career losses to Gleison Tibau and Rich Clementi. Etim sports a 5-2 UFC record, with a win coming over Matt Grice in his Octagon debut.

The Cage Fighting Championships and Cage Gladiators veteran has finished all but one of his 14 career wins including 11 wins coming by submission. He holds other notable career wins over Greg Loughran and Sami Berik.

Dos Anjos (13-4) has won his last two bouts, with his most recent win coming over Kyle Bradley at UFC Fight Night 20 on Jan. 11. He was previously on the verge of being cut from the UFC after losing his first two bouts in the promotion against Jeremy Stephens and Tyson Griffin.

Dos Anjos has been competing professionally for over five-years, while fighting for other notable promotions such as Xtreme Fighting Championships, Pancrese and Fury Fighting Championship.

Though not officially announced, UFC 112 is tentatively set to take place on April 10 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The UFC is expected to announce the event next week. Also, UFC 112 could take place at an outdoor arena, which would be the first outdoor event in the promotion's history.

The event is expected to be headlined by a UFC middleweight title bout between champion Anderson Silva and challenger Vitor Belfort. In addition, UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn will defend his belt against Frankie Edgar and nine-time UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes will welcome Renzo Gracie to the Octagon.
