After a week hiatus for the excitement of UFC 129, the Friday Five is back. FiveKnuckles.com asks five questions and our readers write the article by answering the questions in our forum section. Hominick's Head

Despite the fact that Mark Hominick had a small mountain installed on his forehead during his fight with featherweight champ Jose Aldo, he wanted to continue fighting and the cageside doctor allowed him to do just that. Being a hot topic for the week, media outlets reported professional opinions ranging from "perfectly safe" to "extremely dangerous" when discussing the continuation of the fight. Regardless of your occupation, a lump that size will generally garner a reaction and an opinion.

Do you think the Aldo vs. Hominick fight should have been stopped?

Captain America

We may have witnessed the final fight of Randy Couture again. While he and some other pioneers of the sport increase in age and the new breed of mixed martial artists are a more well-rounded group who've been training from a much younger age, more torches are likely to be passed in the near future.

Two part question;  who do you think will be the next of the pioneers to retire? And, who do you think it should be?

The Rise and Fall of Young Stars

After seeing yet another impressive performance from young Rory MacDonald in his decisive win over Nate Diaz, the thought of what his future could hold has many fans excited. For whatever reason, not all prospects seem to ever really live up to their hype and potential.

Are there any fighters that you had high hopes for as they were coming up who have left you disappointed?

Mom's Day

Sunday is Mother's Day, a day to honor moms and motherhood and the many things they do to raise children and nurture families. When it comes to moms and fights we've heard a variety of things ranging from, "why are you watching this violence?" to "that Randy Couture is a handsome man."

Edit: if I can't say something nice about my mother and MMA, I'm not going to say anything. mike5k: I believe the Hominick fight should have been stopped too. I was told by a doctor after the fight that severe swelling like that could have bled behind his eye and into his orbital socket, causing all kinds of trouble. I think the next guy to retire will be Hughes, although I think it should be Tito as well. My young fighter is Tyson Griffin. I've never really been a fan but I thought he'd be a champ one day. He's still young but he hasn't been as good as his potential. My wife, who's also a mom of course, doesn't "watch" fights but with the amount of fights I watch she's really had no choice but to see some. She watches for a few minutes then picks a winner and actually gets a good percentage right. GO HARD: 1. i dunt really have an opinion if it should be stopped. the doctors checked him each round and checked his eyes.. so i say continue fighting i guess. 2. next to retire.. hughes, tito, big nog. 3. fighters that i had huge hopes for that didnt live up.. luiz cane.. philipe nover Crimsonred: Do you think the Aldo vs. Hominick fight should have been stopped? Not really. The fight was an epic and hard fought battle, both men were doing their absolute best, and Hominick wanted to continue. The lump was scary, but the fight should only have been stopped if it popped. And then Mark should've been rushed to the hospital, cause, that sucker would've bled... Two part question; who do you think will be the next of the pioneers to retire? And, who do you think it should be? If I had to guess, it should and will be Tito Ortiz. Guy has been around forever, but his skill set is outdated, and he's lost his past 5 or 6 fights, and frankly, he's tarnishing his career at this point. Following that, it'll probably be one of the Nogs or Anderson Silva, maybe Matt Hughes. And it'll be a damn shame when it happens. Are there any fighters that you had high hopes for as they were coming up who have left you disappointed? I'm a little disappointed by Dunham's skid, but Hammill was a guy I was pretty high on, he's cooled off a lot for me personally. But I generally stick with my picks, and guys like MacDonald, Gustafsson, Zhang, Jones, and Roberts are guys that are having success, and who I'll continue to stick with, despite their losses. (though Zhang has yet to lose) Share a story about a mom, yours or someone else's, that relates to mma. Well, my only real mother story is that she gave me a ride to UFC 100, and called me in the middle of the even to leave a very angry and loud message on my phone complaining about toilet paper use. Love you mom <3
