The UFC officially releases Josh Burkman
by Jacob Camargo on April 21, 2009

Josh Burkman is the latest casualty of the UFC's recent wave of roster cuts. Burkman's contract originally ended in November and after reports of some brief negotiations the relationship has apparently been temporary severed with the possibility of Burkman coming back to the organization at some point in the future.

Burkman exits the UFC on a 3-fight losing streak, with consecutive losses coming to Mike Swick at UFN 12, Dustin Hazelett at TUF 7 finale and Pete Sell at last October's UFC 90.

Burkman sported an overall UFC record of 5-5, with notable wins over Sammy Morgan, Josh Neer, Drew Ficket and Forrest Petz. The 18-8 former Ultimate Fighter season 2 contestant is currently recovering from a back injury and will now look to get his career back on track with a new promotion.
